I am looking for tubes for my kids cross bikes. Does anyone have a source
for presta, around 32mm, with a fairly long stem? The 32mm presta valve is
easy to find but I have not found any in a long stem.

Thanks.

Just for giggles, take a tube outta a tire and inflate it to see if
the '25c' tube will get larger than 32c size w/o bursting...then just
get any tube.

Performancebike.com

They're presta tubes have 48mm stems which is pretty long. They can be as
cheap as $3 a piece on sale.

I use Performance for a lot of stuff but in the past I have purchased many
of their presta tubes that had problems with the stem separating from the
tube. It wasn't only one or two, it was more like twenty so I don't
purchase their brand any longer and they don't carry any other brand that
meets my spec.

I like the idea of testing tubes designed for 23mm tires on 32mm tires. If
it works it will be simpler buying tubes and bring spares to events.

I concur. I use regular skinny-tire road tubes on all my 700c bikes,
including my touring bike with 35mm tires. less tube=easier to mount,
less likely to blow out from a pinched bead, and are lighter. Only
downside is you have to air them up a little more frequently (ever 5
days instead of 7?), because they're more porous when stretched like
that, but most people check that as a preflight before rides anyway.

I don't why I never questioned why specific sized tubes were required for
different size tires. I think that I will run the correct size tubes on one
bike and regular tubes on a second bike this season.

I just use "SL" road tubes (nominally 18-25 mm) with whatever length
presta valve I need.
