Curious how many people use them? Also wonder if you can buy a screw on cap that has a loop in it for attaching to packs and such?

I like the ones with the large twist spout - don't see them very often but I've been using 2 for the last year, now. Easy to open and drink while riding, no plastic taste to the water (like most of the bike shop water bottles I've used). Only complaint is they rattle in the cage when empty - they're just a little skinnier than standard bike bottles and the plastic is a little harder. "http://store.somafab.com/crppwabo.html" This bottle doesn't have the plastic taste. They were selling them for $5 at a Bay Area sporting goods store chain called Sports Basement.

looking thru Campmor.com for best buys, found an attachment bottle holder: 90432-E also the bags are fanny bags not belt bags. if you look thru the local thrift or Sal Army, used packs are found then dissassembled for parts, pockets, mesh bags, straps, buckles- to sew on other bags or duffels or packs. i use the gator bottles only, now: Gatoraid kiled that industry butt good. gator bottles clean out with a 1/2 oz isopropyl alcohol (CHOH) left in the bottle or tap water then onto the fridge fpr short time storage. you can pour the 1/2 oz out or into another bottle. Rinse/shake the CHOH sanitized bottle 4x with tap water and you're off.

Got four in summer '06, am down to one now. The bottle itself doesn't like to be flexed; eventually the bottle creases from being squeezed, and then a hole develops somewhere along it. Scratch one. I use these only around the house - handy brink bottle - and never on a bike because they'd not survive a day in a bottle cage.

no. it just isn't tolerated. riders using gatorade bottles instead of say a TdF replica are spat on and stoned. never show up at the LBS with one. its death. they'll throw a larger metric bearing into your sack of 1/4" 25's

I eally like the Powerade bottles because of the cap that can be flipped over to cover the valve spout. This cap keeps the valve spout clean even on wet sandy trails. I have a picture of one of these bottles on the handlebars of my Miele Uno road-bicycle at Flickr. The Url is: http://www.flickr.com/photo_zoom.gne?id=207546979&context=set-72157600146684427&size=l< BTW the Profile cage holding the bottle makes a great take-out coffee cup holder. Peter

Per me@privacy.net: >Curious how many people use them? Here's one. I get six months to a year out of a bottle - sometimes losing it, other times just dumping it after it gets so beat up. -- PeteCresswell

The orange gator caps clash with my bike's color scheme.

If are asking do I use them from the start of a ride, that answer is "no". Would I if the situation limited my options? Sure. Why not? Some of them come with tops similar to (and better than some) water bottles and if you stick to those types you can use them indefinitely. If I do use Gatorade brand for hydration, I am more likely to buy the powder. If I buy the ready-to-drink I usually buy it by the case, and the 32 oz I buy have a wider mouth that has no "water bottle like" stopper. Those with the stopper are around 20 oz, which is only an oz smaller than the most common size of water bottles (though it holds more than the smallest "metric" bottles) used in cycling.
