I suspect I am over-thinking this, but...
Can anyone point me to a good diagram showing derailleur and brake
cable routing on the handlebars for Chorus Ergo?
Preferably before and after taping the bars.
Thanks.

Wow, nice...tiles! I know some like their garage clean, but I would
have thought that was your kitchen, had it not been for the garage
door.

Yikes, no kidding. You could operate on that floor. (Disgusting!)

Yes, cables "rub" at a single point, but we're talking two tight wires
crossing.. as many installation guides point out, this friction is
negligible compared with the friction in the housings.

You just have to be sure your downtube (and stops) are the right sort
of orientation to allow the cables free run without rubbing on the
down tube (ie: won't work on oversized tubing). Mine were close
(possibility of them slapping on the tube), so I put a couple of 5mm
pieces of silicon tubing over the cable at the close points (sort of
like the anti-rub cable grommets you can buy).

No pictures, I afraid, but its fairly simple. Both housings run along
front of bars under the tape and exit at same point (2 per side) at
end of bar tape

Noone has yet mentioned cross-over der routing, which may be an option
for you.

I just upgraded my DT shifter commuter to campy ergo (actually,
shimergo):
single-groove bars, both housings on front side, der to opposite sides
of headtube, which allows a nice single bend (no reverse bending) to
downtube cable stops (on brazeons). Cables cross again under downtube
(make sure you have clearance here to tube).

I doubled up on bar tape immediately behind the hoods, since the
cables were a bit lumpy there.

I would like to see a picture of this installation. Don't the cables
rub together under the downtube?
Thanks.

Thanks for the picture.
I see your der cables are on the back of the handlebar. Is that a
double groove bar? Where on the bar does the cable cross to the back?
Directly behind the shifter, or farther along the bar?
And does it go under or over the bar? Seems under would make more
sense, but not necessarily practical.
Thanks again
Doug B.

No, Ritchey only thinks 'Shimano'. Dumb Yanks ;-)
But it's not a problem.

Geez, you really over-thinking this. Just follow the instructions on the
instruction sheet. It's really straightforward.

Those cables look suspiciously like Nokons ;-)

Yes and they are replaced by Campy cables now. You can't say I have no
experience with them. What a crap.

Also Lou: Scott carbon frame and fork, Record carbon shifters, Zero G
brakes, Nokon cables? I think you just outed yourself as a weight weenie.

The WCS bar, at over 200 grams, has got to go,

No, that is a mistake that many people make. There are very very few OS
CF handlebars and stems that are lighter than the aluminum Ritchey WCS
and I don't want those on my bike. And what is more important I like the
shape of the Ritchey classic bars.
Did you notice the Thomsom Elite seatpost? Same story here.
BTW I sold the Zero gravity brakes (for a very good price) on Ebay and
replaced them with the Record Skeletons (still money left). I switch
between wheels with aluminum rims and CF rims and I have to replace the
pads. That's is a real PIA with the Zero G brakes and a 5 min job with
the Campy brakes. So now I'm stuck with a 6.9 kg heavy bike including
pedals, waterbottle cages and the 230 grams heavy saddle I like. All
reliable of the shelf stuff.
Weightweenie? Nah.. It was my project bike. I still have a 9.0 kg
Litespeed that I equally like.

Cheers,

Lou

All housing in front or 1 derailleur housing back and other 2 in
front. Cut both derailleur housings to be same lenght, ~22-24" on
56-58 cm frame. Both derailleur housings closest to frame. Front
Brake housing forward of derailleur housings. Rear brake cable most
forward and wrapping outside other cables. The rear brake cable
should be long enough so that when you turn your bars totally right it
doesn't pull. If it is sloppy looking of squishes the derailleur
housings, shorten each of the derailleur housings the exact same
amount.

No pix but if 2 groove handlebar and downtube cable stops, der housing
behind handlebar and behind brake housing. If single groove or
headtube cable stops, der housing in front of hbar and in front of
brake housing, and then a wee bit of bar tape along aft grove if 2
groove handlebar. Remember, a wee bit long is better than a wee bit
short.
