Subject: Help needed with Campy hub
|
We are trying to change a hub on a Campy Zonda wheel, 07, from a Shimano freehub to Campy. We have a Campy hub from a different Campy wheel (also supposedly 07) but the mechanic said that it will not fit due to being a different diameter. He said that it's a 9s hub, not 10s, and that the two bubs \bodies are not compatible. I believe he's rather full of it, especially since the new cassette body comes from a new Campy wheel, not one that's 5+ years old. Is there an experienced Campy mechanic in the house who can shed some light on this? Peter? Anyone? Thanks in advance.

Freehubs for Campagnolo did change for 2007, with the freehub one piece and not with a screwed in pawl carrier BUT if the hubs are 2007 and both have aluminum axles, freehubs, including the shimano compatible one, are interchangable. 2007 freehubs cannot go onto 2006 axles BUT 2006 and earlier freehubs can go onto newer axles. No such animal as a '9s' Campagnolo freehub. If it's 9s, it's also 10s.

Vento, Scirocco and Khamsin are all cartridge bearing hubs, and the freehub bodies aren't compatible. You want FH-BO015, but you could be using FH-SC015.

I'm pretty sure that Campy 9s and 10s cassette bodies are one and the same thing. i.e. no change of cassette body from 9s to 10s.
