Subject: Mavic Ksyrium Sl Spoke Noise
I have a set of SL's with about 300 miles on them. I have started to
notice an intermittent nosie that sounds like spoke or rim noise. I
seems like it is coming from the front wheel but those spokes are
tight and, of course, they don't cross. The spokes on the rear non-
drive side move a bit when flexed by hand and make a noise at the rim/
nipple connection that sounds likethe noise I hear when standing on
the pedals. As with many intermittent noise issues, this one is hard
to pinpoint and diagnose. I was wondering if anyone else has
experienced anything like this with these wheels?

Overhaul the hubs, they come dry, dry..to include taking the 'seals'
off the bearings and injecting grease in there. OIL the plastic
freehub bushing/seal, grease onto the axles, front and back AND a wee
bit of lube where the spokes enter the rim and where the spokes attach
to the hub..these are noisey wheels.

According to a french TdF mechanic I know, all Mavic wheels come from the
factory without enough grease and therefore make creaking noises.
Furthermore, vaseline on the spokenipples seem to make them more silent.
