Alas I've decided that its within my grasp to design and build a bike, perhaps from "stock" parts (no frame construction) or perhaps more complicated. Though, when I attempt to research information on fitting a bike, selecting parts etc, I get lost in 10 different 9 speed rear derailers and the like, and no one seems to care to point out what is suited for what. I'm not totally concerned about weight as I'm used to biking around on a mountain bike, but after riding around on a 700c bike for a day and a half, I'm sold and want to jump into this arena. I want to use it mainly on paved paths and trails. Any suggestions for online reading, books, etc will be welcomed! Thanks, Brian

Perhaps I should have mentioned that I am considering a 9 or 10 speed and disk brakes and a hub dynamo and a custom-made battery and charging system. Though, that I'll figure out somewhere else, the mechanics of the bike are where I get lost. I've repaired and worked on many styles of bikes and of different sizes so putting one together shouldn't be as bad as repairing one with a broken rim =P (also curious about disk brakes, but don't need them, as I'm in love with V-Pulls ..etc)
