Subject: Old 8-sp Shimano XT M-737 Disc-brake compatible?
|
I'm rebuilding my older mountain bike and am thinking of switching from canti's to discs, since I'm moving to a new set of wheels in the process. Does anyone know if this series of shifters has enough pull for something like the Avid BB7 mechanical discs? Or would I need to use the road version of the brake? I'd rather use the mountain version if possible, in case I upgrade my shifters at a later date. Thanks, -pete

Otherwise you'll need the road version or new brake levers.

You should probably go with the "road" disc brakes to insure compatibility. Jeff
