Subject: Quick Question on 10sp / 9sp Front Derailleur
I've got a 10sp FD-7800 that I need to run temporarily on a 9 speed
bike. I doesn't look that much more narrow....

Can I expect any problems with chain rub or just need to trim a little
more often?

I'll have the whole thing converted in a month or so, just have to
sell the children to raise the cash for bike parts and I'm having
trouble finding buyers. :-)

What are you asking for them? ...will you trade for a toaster?

Dear Android,

Don't do it!

Trading children for toasters is wrong, even if you're a mechanical
man--demand cash or children to be named later, but never take
toasters!

Jeff is obviously another of the wretched toaster apologists who have
recently "popped up" on RBT. Here's the first sighting of such craven
propagandists:

And here's a site that fearlessly tells the toasted truth:

Contrary to the second poster, 7800 FD actually has shorter arms and
travels less distance per shift so on a 9s STI, it isn't ideal..the
contrary, however, is not true(9s onto a 10s STI)

OK thanks!
No it will be on the TT bike with bar end shifters, so under total
manual control. Sounds like I just need to tweak it a bit.

The 7800 is shinier than its predecessor, but it's not narrower. It
will work as well as anything that says nine speed on it.
