Subject: Respoking an MA-2 rim
|
I have an MA-2 rim, used for about 7 years, that I want to respoke. After removing the rim strip, I noticed rusted areas on the rim under the rim tape, about one half inch in diameter around each eyelet. I see no other problems with the rim, no cracks, no rust. Is this rust around the eyelets normal, or a sign that the rim should not be reused? Thanks.

After 7 years I'd be measuring the braking surface very carefully to assess whether it's worth it. I don't believe the rust is anything to worry about. It's a slight galvanizing failure.
