I know this has come up before, but couldn't find an answer - is it
possible to use the DX V brake as a front brake? It says it's for the
rear, but I've read that it's just a red old-style LX brake. Thanks
for any help, and apologies if I've missed the answer somewhere.

Only required on asymmetrical pads, and not so much around as switch sides.
Put the right pad on the left brake arm and the left pad on the right brake
arm.
