I am one of those guys who, no matter what shape I am in, perspire heavily and when I bike I just hate it when the sweat drips into my eyes and burns. I have been using a standard thickness, tennis-type sweatband under an older helmet. Just bought the top-rated Specialized Aurora helmet and now find that the standard thickness sweatband just won't fit: too thick. I see lots of thin sweatbands for sale: Sweat Gutr Headband, SweatVac Ventilator Cap, Pearl Izumi MicroSensor Headband, etc. Can anyone recommend any one of these over any other? They are all $10 to $15 a pop and I'd like to get a recommendation rather than the buy-and-try approach. I really do need, however, a really thin one. Many thanks, Gunni

Gentlemen - My thanks to all for your recommendations; I'll check them out although the "skull cap" one that Voler makes seems like a winner. Gunni

Voler headbands are awesome, for around the $10 mark if I remember (I bought a few several years back and have only worn through a couple). Thin and hardly noticeable under helmet but they keep nearly 100% of your sweat off the glasses. volerwear.com. I have no affiliation, just a happy customer. -pete "Gunny" <girsatt@gmail.com > wrote in message news:1179411977.274207.157660@h2g2000hsg.googlegroups.com... >I am one of those guys who, no matter what shape I am in, perspire > heavily and when I bike I just hate it when the sweat drips into my > eyes and burns. > > I have been using a standard thickness, tennis-type sweatband under an > older helmet. > > Just bought the top-rated Specialized Aurora helmet and now find that > the standard thickness sweatband just won't fit: too thick. > > I see lots of thin sweatbands for sale: Sweat Gutr Headband, SweatVac > Ventilator Cap, Pearl Izumi MicroSensor Headband, etc. > > Can anyone recommend any one of these over any other? I compare the Gutr to the old RaceAid, which I really liked. It dumped the sweat behind your ears and the Gutr lets it run down just past your eyebrows. The Halos are nice and thin. I have had the element that blocks the sweat from running in your eyes crack after some time (a year? two?) with the Halo. Cheers, Mike Davis

But fit better under helmets. But the problem with headbands of any thickness was they always got pushed down when putting the helmet on. A few years ago I bought a Stubby Do Wrap thing. Has a light headband built into the bottom edge. Works OK and best of all it cannot get pushed down by the helmet since its basically a beanie.

Very thin and very effective. Sold at REI. Neal
