Hi, I have a 1996 Trek 5500. Does this take an English or Italian bottom bracket? Is there a specific length? Many thanks in advance. GT

It's probably a Dura-Ace crank, but the spindle length will depend on the revision, and could be anywhere between 103-113mm. There should be a 4- digit number on the back of the crankarm, beginning with a 7. Compare that to this chart: http://sheldonbrown.com/bbsize.html#dura Hope that helps!
