after years of pushing the button four times to get the light off, (flash, steady, chase, random, off), I read about different light that if you hold in the switch, it skips the rest and goes directly from flash to off. Well I tried it on my cateye and it worked. this type... it says nothing in the instructions about this feature. http://campusbikeshop.com/images/library/large/cateye_ld120iiirb_05_m.jpg

It would be handy though! It's very tough to see the blinkie (mounted on the back of my helmet), so I need to remember which mode the light is in. For group trail riding, tail lights are an annoyance and need to be turned off (or at least set steady)...but riding on the street is a different story.
