Subject: identifying a chorus long cage rear deralliur

Before going to the alpes next week i got a 13/29 cassete (50/34-13/29
shuold be sufficient), hovever my short cage Chrus 07 couldn't handle
the 29tm so i searched all over Copenhagen for at medium caged 10 speed
campy rear deralliur with no luck :-(
Insted i found a cheap older all aluminum Chorus long cage deralliur
which will do the job as well (though it looks stupid on a non tripple
bike).
Witch was the last year of the all aluminum Chorus deralleur, and when
did the 10 speed long cage Chorus replace the Racing tripple deraliur?
I'd like to know if i can replace the short cage from the carbon
Chrous 07 with the long cage from the aluminum chorus?

Try shortening the chain 1 link.

Hmmm. we have a demo bike with a 53/39 crank, 13-29 and short cage
RD..should be fine as long as your chain is proper length.

2003 last year of aluminum bodied RD for Chorus

2003 IIRC.
Nope, the short cage models and the med/long models can't swap cages.
But you _can swap between medium and long.

thank you, from the diagram on the sparepart manual it seems to be the
one.

? from what i can se it looks like you can switch beween short and
medium on the same body.

Late night memory glitch. You're right small with medium (can't swap
short to long). In theory that is. We have never actually done either as
a whole derailleur is only a bit more than a cage assembly.

but is the angle on the pantograph the same? i'd have thought the short
cage derailleur, being designed for compact clusters, would be different.

No, but you can use the medium cage parts. They will be more than enough to
handle the 29.
